Több mint négymillió forintos fejlesztés végéhez ér a következő hetekben a Barcsi Természet- és Állatvédő Egyesület. A szervezet a Rinya-Dráva Szövetségnél igényelt LEADER támogatásból újítja fel az állatmenhelyet.

Az egyesület viktorpusztai telephelyén élő mintegy négyszáz kutya számára a kifutókat, kenneleket, az épület teljes keleti oldalát is korszerűsítik a szakemberek, valamint az uniós szabványnak megfelelő karantént is kialakítanak.

Az állatvédőknek a kutyák ellátásában és az építési munkákban idén a barcsi Széchenyi Ferenc Gimnázium diákjai segítenek önkéntes munka keretében. A lehetőséget a Barka Alapítvány hirdette meg a 2011 évi önkéntességi programjában. Az állatvédőknek hatalmas segítséget nyújtanak a tanulók.

Az egyesület a Pedigree Örökbefogadási Program partnermenhelyeként is nyert kétmillió forintot, amelyet főként a kutyák egészségügyi ellátására fordítanak. A viktorpusztai telepre – a németországi kapcsolatoknak köszönhetően – hetven kutyaház és egy nagyobb faház is érkezik még idén nyáron, amely esztétikusabb, szebb környezetet varázsol a gazdit keresők és állatbarátok számára.
